Judaism, Christianity, & Islam

Course Description

This course offers an introduction to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam by focusing on the scriptural foundation and historical development of these related traditions. Lectures cover the texts and other forms of religious expression, especially in art, music, literature, law, and philosophy. Requirements include short papers and three exams. Readings come from the Hebrew Bible and New Testament, and the Qur'ān. Other materials from selected Jewish, Christian, and Muslim thinkers will be included. This is an introductory course, hence it shall survey major themes for students with little or no background at all in any or all three traditions.
